Subject	Automatic Transmission Shift Rod

Message	I'm re-installing another transmission and I'm wondering why the car is in park but I have to pull the shift rod on the side of the transmission all the back to be able to connect to the rod that hangs down from the shifter inside the car? Wouldn't this put the transmission in 2nd gear and not park?
